If we take a bunch of non-trivial common pieces of software, and experiment with stripping down the irrelevant data and functionality into some minimal (canonical) form, will various different programmers and software developers differ on the significance of the remaining details? We do want to leave some wiggle room in the specifications for intrepetation, technologies, and conventions, but still control it enough that the 'core' attributes of the system as conceptualized are the same ones that are built.
